new processor

hey guys and gals, i want to upgrade my processor.

i currently have an AMD Athlon 64 processor, 2.00 GHz, 1 GB of Ram.

how do I make sure my mother board and power supply is compatiable with a new one?

i was thinking of buying the AMD Athlon II X2 250 3.0 GHz 2MB Cache Dual Core Processor

but i dont want to buy it and find out my current components can't handle it.

Beware of the socket, the same on motherboard n processor.

Make sure it will be ok with ur motherboard. And check how much power do u need for that CPU.

Or tell me what motherboard u have with all u have on it :D

U will not be able to plug in ur CPU. Ur motherboard have socket 754 and CPU u want require am2+ and/or am3

dang, thats the reason im checking these things out before i buy one.

do u have any recommendations of CPU's that would fit my motherboard, still possibly 3.0 GHz or a more upgraded one.

It will be better if u will just colect more money and buy new pc. What is ur RAM and graphics card?
