fps problems

hey was just wondering if any1 could give me advice on sorting out the fps on my wolf?

currently it is on about 50 if i happen to be on my own on wolf, but as soon as i go near other players or arty or anything it drops under 30, and usually under 20

i think it may be due to the fact this pc only has a 512mb ram (sucks i know), because when i had my old pc with a ram of 1gb i had a constant fps of 120 .. pretty good coinsidence. .. also have 1,66ghz which im not sure makes a difference or not

obviously i have tried simple commands e.g /com_maxfps 76 etc etc
and running no other programs in the background

just wondering if theres anything else that will work

hope some1 can help :P

thanks shrimpy

yes 512 mb ram is very low.

This is from Wolfenstein Manual, maybe it helps a bit.
and make not a to high resolution, try out where you have most fps.
- Performance Boosters

Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory allows you to customize your settings so that you can improve the visuals or decrease them. Some of them have a greater impact on performance than others. Below are some settings that will improve your performance, but at the expense of the visuals:

1. Set the system options to 'Fastest'
2. \com_maxfps (set to a high number i.e 400)
3. \cg_atmosphericeffects 0
4. \cg_wolfparticles 0
5. \r_fastsky 1
6. \r_picmip 3
7. \cg_drawgun 0

Your main problem is CPU or video card. What CPU model is it?

AMD sempron(tm) 2400+

well i got a 2gb ram on the way so im hopping that it will sort out the problem, if not then im doomed for low fps

No, for 90% it won't. Semprons are one of the shitiest CPU models, equivalent of Celeron (Intel). Better buy a new CPU :)

you can also try this ,
1) start Et and minimize it
2) ctrl alt &delete = task manager
3)right click Et exec
4)set affinity option click it
5)turn off all your cpu all but one,,im using cpu 0
6)thats it..you just told your comp to chill the fuck out,,on a cheap game that should run with 1cpu fine,if not, change back, you wont harm anything in this process.
