Hi guys
This post wants to be a sharing of experiences that can be useful. All welcome to add, correct or comment on content.
The ultimate goal is to improve the gaming experience and ensure that as many people as possible can have fun. I wrote it with google translator, therefore, be patient :)

I decided to write these two lines to be able to give ideas to people who want to improve the performance of their system, connection and finally have more pleasure in playing ET.
As you well know ET is a quite old and now the competitiveness that once there is no longer exists. No more Clan Wars nothing Praccy no Whine :) controversy and more.
However, our server hosts a multitude of long-time players who are familiar with all the tricks and often benefit from them.
In the end it should count only mouse1 and tactics, but also the settings do.

More and more, the refresh rate of your monitor is, more fluid than what you see.

The 144hz or 240hz gaming monitors give users a big advantage. They see fewer shots can better track the opponent, etc., etc.

Clearly a good monitor must be exploited with good hardware.

The monitor to supply> 144hz must be connected via DP. Check that you have the exit.

Eventually by default it is not set immediately on 144hz refresh. You need to go to the settings of the video card and set the refresh rate manually in the resolution options or from the drop-down menu if it is already present.

While the sensitivity is still subjective, but in the end it returns that the pros have it always more or less the same, ie the one that allows you to always keep crosshair on a fixed point by turning left and right around.

Acceleration is the same for everyone. Must be removed.

1. in windows, in the additional properties mouse uncheck the box Increase Pointer Accuracy

2. In the game, setting cl_mouseaccel to value 0 (seta cl_mouseaccel 0)

4. ETlegacy has implemented the rawmouse which should give a perfect 1: 1 mouse feel to track well

Mouse Pad

Even here, multitude of variants, for mouse with optical sensor (for me, imho the best) with lazer sensor, rigid, thick etc. It should be preferred. You can play without it, but having it, my personal opinion, allows you to have better control. I use Quick Heavy.


In my opinion, not particularly relevant, but if you really want :) a mechanical keyboard instead of the membrane, should provide less latency in the keystrokes (but perhaps for Esports) much about the placebo effect imho.

Video Card-GPU

Considering that it is a very old game, almost all modern systems should be more than enough to run it. And anyway ET is an avid game of CPU and not of video card, so if you have any particular settings, in my opinion 'they can be kept, even if I play with everything to a minimum, like I was used to from the times when I had the Ti4200: D

Now to optimize the game Lag etc.

During the game, your system (especially if it is windows) lives its own life. Download updates, check etc. If you don't care, skip this part, if yes, read on.

Also on this subject there are a lot of videos on Youtube, I paste one of them, but follow the advice given in it carefully. Not everything is convenient or useful.

You can also try downloading a program to optimize the system (free up memory and implement some other things that I don't know what they are) and use that. (Game Booster, Razer Cortex)

It is absolutely not an ideal CFG, but I like to play with it. Honestly once every two months I get the monkey and change some settings. But fundamentally for what concerns those of the game no.

My CFG is connected to another CFG with the script that decreases the size of the crosshair when I crouch.
It also allows me to change the color of the viewfinder based on the maps.
On white ones I use red, in some the green, mostly yellow. Below is the file.
Clearly you have to copy the file to the folder where you have the CFG and insert the line in your cfg.
exec filename.cfg
The config are made for me, if you want you can change sizes and types of viewfinder as you like.
